Stewardship
“Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.” I Corinthians 6:19-20
In essence, what these two Scriptures tell us is that we are not our own.
We are bought with a price (purchased) for His own. All that we have and all that we are belongs to God.
We are stewards of gifts, talents, time, and resources that God has allowed us to possess.
To be a steward, is to be one who manages others affairs, finances or property. This would be an attendant who is employed or appointed as a custodian or guardian and one who does not possess ownership.
John Wesley, founder of the Methodist church was concerned that the converted, after turning away from sin, were concentrating too much on becoming wealthy. So he wrote a warning explaining the only way they could maintain their full commitment to God. He said they should work as hard as they can, to gain as much as they can – so they can give as much as they can. When Wesley died after five decades of ceaseless evangelism, his only possession was the silver spoon with which he ate.
Here at Calvary Assembly of God, we dedicate our whole selves to being faithful stewards. And God in turn, blesses us even more as we respond to His bounties.
As stated in Luke 6:38, “Give and it will come back to you in good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over.”
